Three Ridgefield College Students Killed

Three Ridgefield college students were killed over the weekend of September 18 to 20 in two separate incidents.

On Friday, September 18, a crash with a tractor-trailer in Tolland County led to the death of Ridgefield High School graduate Ryan Meegan along with University of Connecticut student Alana Ferrente. The crash happened a few miles from the University’s Storrs campus. A third UConn student was injured but there are no details as to who it was nor the injuries.

Then on Sunday, September 20, two students were killed when their small plane crashed in rural upstate New York. The students were 18 year old freshman Cathryn Depuy who had her student pilot’s license since October 2013 and Ryan Adams. They left Hamilton Municipal Airport in Madison County at around 1 p.m. with Depuy at the controls, when shortly afterwards, the single engine Cessna 150 which was rented from the airport went down in the town of Eaton..Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Depuy and Adams graduated from Ridgefield high school in May this year and Meegan graduated in 2014.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the plane crash.
