Woman Killed by Amtrak Train

A woman has died after being struck by an Amtrak train on the New Haven line Monday afternoon.

According to Metro North officials, Amtrak train #93, which was a Northeast Regional train from Boston to Richmond Virginia, hit a woman who was trespassing on the tracks just west of Milford train station at around 12.20 p.m.

Amtrak officials said that there were 337 passengers on board the train and that there were no injuries to any of the passengers or crew. The woman, as yet unnamed was killed.

Following the accident all Amtrak trains were re-routed around the accident scene.

A Metro-North spokesperson went on to say that the New Haven line service between Bridgeport and New Haven would continue to be delayed while police continue their investigation.

Both Metro-North and Amtrak resumed normal service as soon as the police investigation at the scene was completed.
